Detector age

How old is the detector – how long has it been in operation?

  • Securiton: Rating plate on the underside of the detector with type and date of manufacture or serial number. With SecuriFire, detector data can be retrieved via the panel or SecuriFire Studio.
  • Logbook and reports (decisive): The operating time counts from the commissioning of the detector. The date is recorded in the logbook, in the commissioning or acceptance report or in the last replacement report. This gives the years and months in operation.
  • Type plate on the detector: The label (usually on the underside or side of the detector, visible after twisting it out of the base) shows the type, serial number and date of manufacture or a date code (e.g. year/calendar week). If no commissioning date is documented, we take the cautious approach of calculating from the date of manufacture.
  • Reading out via the panel: With many addressable loop detectors, detector data such as serial number, date of manufacture, degree of contamination and – depending on the system and software version – operating hours can be retrieved via the panel’s operating unit or programming software. We do this during the survey using your programming file.

This determines the replacement interval under DIN 14675: as a rule 5 years, or 8 years for detectors with contamination compensation and testing in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications – details under Deadlines & standards. Send us a photo of the type plate and we will determine the age for you.

Securiton Deutschland

Which Securiton detector is installed at your site?

Securiton systems with fire alarm control panels SecuriFire 500, 1000, 2000 or 3000 work with the addressable loop detectors of the SecuriStar series on the SecuriLine eXtended loop. Current detectors have an “X” in the type designation (e.g. MCD 573X, CCD 573X). Older systems with SecuriLine contain first-generation SecuriStar detectors such as SCD 573, MCD 573 or STD 531. The type designation is printed on the rating plate on the underside of the detector.

Bases

Securiton bases USB 501 / USB 502: when a new base is needed

All X-generation SecuriStar detectors are screwed into bases of the USB 502 series. If a USB 502 is already installed, it remains during replacement.

Compatibility

Securiton and Hekatron: what fits together?

Securiton and Hekatron both belong to the Swiss Securitas Group and partly use the same technology. For detector replacement, this means:

  • Same base family: SecuriStar detectors (…573X) and Hekatron Integral detectors (…533X) are both screwed into bases of the USB 502 series. A base change is therefore often not necessary when switching manufacturer.
  • Detectors are system-specific: MCD 573X and CCD 573X are designed for SecuriFire with SecuriLine eXtended, MTD 533X and CMD 533X for Hekatron Integral. Despite the identical base, they must not be swapped for one another without approval from the panel manufacturer – protocol, programming and VdS system approval differ.
  • Shared special fire detectors: The Ex smoke detector MMD 130 Ex-i with base USB 502-7/-8 Ex-i and the linear heat detector ADW 535 are used in both system worlds; according to Securiton, the ADW 535 is connected to Integral via the XLM 35 module.
  • Hekatron SecuriPro: Hekatron discontinued the SecuriPro system in February 2017. Hekatron recommends switching to Integral IP; according to Hekatron, the existing detectors can continue to be used.

Hekatron detectors and bases with order numbers: Hekatron page. Which detector is approved for your panel is determined by the panel manufacturer’s compatibility list – we check this for you.

Important

Before ordering

  • Check the panel: X-generation SecuriStar detectors run on SecuriFire 500 to 3000 via SecuriLine eXtended. With older SecuriLine systems, a software update of the panel may be required. We check this using your detector list and programming file.
  • Replacement interval: Smoke and multi-sensor detectors after 5 years at the latest, or after 8 years with automatic contamination compensation and testing in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications – details under Deadlines & standards.
  • Change of detector series: New bases, different detector types or a changed number of detectors may constitute a significant modification – see expert inspection and fire brigade.
  • EN 54 tested (as of 19.10.2026): All SecuriStar detectors listed as available are certified to EN 54-5/-7/-29 (MCD 573X-S… additionally to EN 54-3, CCD 573X additionally to EN 54-26/-30), the aspirating smoke detectors to EN 54-20 and the linear beam smoke detectors to EN 54-12. The detectors that are no longer available were approved under the EN 54 or VdS rules in force when they were introduced; since 2008, CE marking to EN 54 has been mandatory for new detectors – which is why we only name currently certified types as replacements.
  • Installation by a specialist company only: Replacement and repair of detectors in fire alarm systems required under building law are part of maintenance and are reserved for a specialist company certified to DIN 14675 – even if you only buy the detectors from us. Details under Legal situation.
  • Order numbers from Securiton will be provided with our quote – Securiton does not publish article numbers.
  • Image credits and trademarks: Product images © Securiton. The images serve solely to identify the detectors. Brand and product names are the property of their respective owners. Further details in the Legal notice.
